About Tovaxo Eye Drops

Tovaxo Eye Drops is used for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Glaucoma is a condition that causes damage to the optic nerve (necessary for optimal vision). Ocular hypertension is an increase in ocular pressure caused by inadequate aqueous humor outflow (fluid in the eye that maintains normal pressure by its continuous flow).

Tovaxo Eye Drops contains Travoprost, a prostaglandin analogue that reduces elevated ocular pressure by enhancing the outflow of aqueous fluid.

The most common side effects of Tovaxo Eye Drops include decreased visual acuity, eye discomfort, foreign body sensation, pain and pruritus (itching) in some situations. The majority of side effects do not require medical treatment and fade away with time. However, if the side effects persist, consult your doctor.

Instil Tovaxo Eye Drops as advised by your doctor. It is advised not to use more than the prescribed amount of medicine. Tovaxo Eye Drops is for ophthalmic use only. Do not ingest. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to prevent contamination.

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Travoprost or any ingredients present in the Tovaxo Eye Drops . It is recommended not to take Tovaxo Eye Drops if you are a pregnant or nursing mother without first consulting your doctor. If you are using more than one ophthalmic medicine, give each one (drug) at least a ten-minute gap.

Uses of Tovaxo Eye Drops

Tovaxo Eye Drops is used in the treatment of ocular hypertension, glaucoma. The detailed uses of Tovaxo Eye Drops are as follows:

  • Treatment of Glaucoma: Tovaxo Eye Drops helps to treat glaucoma by lowering eye pressure, preventing gradual vision loss, and reducing the risk of optic nerve damage.
  • Treatment of Ocular Hypertension: Tovaxo Eye Drops effectively reduces elevated eye pressure by enhancing the outflow of natural eye fluids, thereby helping to prevent potential complications.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safe and effective use.
  • Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instill the number of drops advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.
  • Tovaxo Eye Drops is for ophthalmic use only. Avoid touching the container tip to your eye or lids to prevent contamination.

Key Benefits

  • Tovaxo Eye Drops is a well-known medication for open-angle glaucoma that effectively reduces excessive pressure by inhibiting prostaglandin action in the eye.
  • Prostaglandin is a naturally occurring chemical that contributes to eye dryness.
  • The intraocular pressure (the pressure built inside the eyeball) is naturally maintained by a normally flowing liquid known as aqueous humour.
  • If this outflow of liquid gets blocked, then aqueous pressure starts putting more pressure within the eyeball. Excessive pressure must be managed; otherwise, it can damage the optic nerve and impair vision.
  • Tovaxo Eye Drops functions as a synthetic prostaglandin that works similarly to natural ones by increasing the drainage of aqueous humour inside the eyeball, resulting in a decrease in intraocular pressure.

How Tovaxo Eye Drops Works
